Since the series' introduction in 1998 with Sony's PlayStation game Spyro the Dragon, there have been numerous sequels and a reboot trilogy.
The loading screen now has the pause screen as it's background, just like in The Eternal Night.Spyro is a video game series which features the main protagonist of the same name, a dragon. New animation of Cynder attacking the dragons during the war is used, replacing the scroll-like images from the original release. Cutscenes can now be skipped easily, even the logos. Ironically enough, the current Sierra logo doesn't appear in-game at all, despite the logo appearing on the cover art of the game. The Activision logo now precedes the Sierra logo in all games. In addition, all games are now in widescreen (or full screen if on full screen format on PS3 and Xbox 360) by default, making the aspect ratio options obsolete, and in the process, are thus removed. The above changes don't apply to the the PS3 version (1st two games only), as the framerate in that version is always locked at 30fps for those two games. However, only the in-game cutscenes for Dawn of the Dragon now run at 60fps, as the ones for the 1st two games still run at 30fps. All games now run entirely at 60fps during actual gameplay (though there are instances of framerate drops in those games). The graphics for all games have been enhanced, including realtime shadows and reflections. See The Legend of Spyro: HD Collection/Bonus Content.
